Zion Lutheran Church

1303 Tanager Ave
Ocheyedan, IA  51354-7008

It was established before Ocheyedan existed, and from those roots, it is referred to as Zion of Horton Township. Worship began in 1884, and the congregation was formally organized in 1887 and the parochial school began in the same year. Unfortunately, after over 100 years of service, declining enrollment and a declining farm population led to the close of the School. The purpose of Zion Lutheran Church is to equip the saints for the work of ministry. This is done through preaching Christ and him crucified at every Divine Service.  It is done by the administration of the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.  It is done through regular opportunities of teaching.  The word and sacrament strengthens us for works of service.  Declaring God's good work to the community around us, and serving our neighbor where they have need.  If you wish to attend services, the service schedule is below.  We look forward to sharing with you in the bountiful grace of God.
